Patricia (Patty) Lee Hinten, 68, a resident of the Dayton, Ohio Air Force Community, passed away on 26 December 2023 at Miami Valley Hospital. She was born on 24 December 1955 in Manhattan, Kansas to Frederic Ralph Graybeal and Eva Lillian King.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Dwight Edgar Graybeal, who died in infancy.
Patty is survived by her husband, Steven (Steve) Hinten; twin sons, Michael (Stephanie) Hinten (Minnesota), and Christopher Hinten (California), and daughter, April (Brian) Truby (Ohio); grandchildren, Thomas Hinten and Eleanor Hinten; brother, Phillip (Lynda) Graybeal (Texas), and sister, Betty Henning (Kansas). Patty is also survived by numerous family and friends.
Patty grew up and spent much of her early life in Manhattan, Kansas. She attended Bluemont Elementary School, Manhattan Junior High School, and Manhattan High School, graduating in 1973. She was also a 1979 graduate of Kansas State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture, majoring in Natural Resource Management. While working as a Dispatcher at the Riley County Police Department in Kansas, she met Steve, who was a Police Officer at the time. After a whirlwind engagement, they were married in Manhattan on 2 October 1982. Following the birth of the twins and Steve's graduation from veterinary school, Patty became a loving and supportive Air Force wife and stay-at-home Mother. Patty and the family lived and traveled throughout the United States and Europe for almost three decades. Eventually they settled in Dayton and spent the last 13 years.
Patty enjoyed outdoor activities and was an avid animal lover. After the children grew up and left home, she was a doting Kitty Mom. She also loved just spending time with her family, including celebrating their favorite holiday, Halloween.
As a youngster Patty was always considered a sweet little girl, and as she got older, her continual positive outlook on life was a constant joy and source of comfort to her family and everyone else who knew her. She will be most remembered for her sparkling smile, beautiful laugh, and loving, caring attitude.
