Patricia Jean Cantlin

May 4, 1958 — April 16, 2023

Patricia Jean Cantlin (nee Beasley), aged 64, died unexpectedly April 16, 2023 after a brief illness. She was born on May 4, 1958, in the Army Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany, to James Herron Beasley (Georgiana, Alabama, Feb 9, 1919-Dec 30, 1967) and Rosemary Beasley (nee Kuhns) (Berlin, Germany, Dec 19,1931-Nov 5, 2005).

She is preceded in death by her grandparents (Earl and Phyllis (nee Oberländer) Kuhns and John and Evie (nee Henderson) Beasley), Parents, Husband (the love of her life) John "Jack" Cantlin III, half brother and sister James H and Anna Pitts, and niece Gail Meersand (nee Scheidegg). She is survived by her brother Kenneth, Mother-in-Law Evelyn Cantlin, close friends Martha Schewendeman, Rose Marie Pryor, and Dr. Kathy Gallagher.

She filled the pages of her life with living in faraway places German, France, Newfoundland and across the US including solo adventures; incredible travels to Europe, a divided Germany, Cuba with friends.

She would develop some of her closest friends attending Ellis School for Girls, Newtown Square, PA, earn her Associate of Science in Engineering (Bucks County Community College) then a Bachelors of Business Administration from the Fox School of Business at Temple University in Actuarial Science where she was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society. She was the only undergraduate commencement speaker.

She lead a team to file the mandatory paperwork to do business in every state, responsible for more than a billion dollars in business, for a major healthcare provider. She and her husband purchased Knickers Pub, Uncle Jack's Place employing many family members in their first job. Their home was the place to be for the holidays with the happy sounds of children of family members welcomed enthusiastically, paying each their special attention.

Jack is the love of her life. Each was the Ying of the others Yang. He would drive from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh for a date. They would go on adventures to Nova Scotia and then down to the golfing adventures at Disney and then off to lights and sounds of Las Vegas where they were the high rollers of old.
Tragedy struck with a diagnosis of breast cancer, surgery, radiation, and chemo followed with mother, husband and half-sister dying in rapid succession. Through it all she retained the same calmness she had all her life with an internal strength she would draw upon. She came to Ohio and suffered a relapse in her cancer with a decade of additional treatment. She maintained her travels to events and activities, political involvement, visiting with friends and family, dinners on the weekend and holiday celebrations. All the while not letting on how difficult her situation. She had her quite strength and her eternal optimism that she would allow her to outlast the dreaded disease. The day before her minor surgery she was talking with friends, after again overcoming great odds, to get HOME in a few weeks.

To the end her quiet strength was inspirational to those who met her and they grew to cheer her on her journey. She enjoyed the adventures with her close friends, especially Martha with her extended family, and many kindnesses both great and small. Pat will be missed and her quiet strength and grace serves as an inspiration for all.
