Patricia Bolden

March 15, 1972 — March 28, 2015

Patricia Blagg Bolden died on March 28, 2015, in Vandalia, Ohio. She was the daughter of Timothy and Mary Blagg of Greenfield, Massachusetts.

Patti was born in Presque Isle, Maine, and attended Washburn Elementary School, Waterville Junior High and Waterville High School. She was active in the band and also played softball, basketball and soccer.

In 1988, the family moved to Greenfield where Patti attended Greenfield High School. She was engaged in band, orchestra and vocal music programs. She played flute, piccolo and saxophone. She participated in basketball, track, and was one of two girls who played on the boys soccer team because Greenfield did not offer soccer for girls at that time.

After graduation from GHS in 1990, Patti enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where she was trained in medical records and administration. She remained in the Air Force for 10 years, stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas; Kunsan AFB, Korea; and Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. She attained the rank of Staff Sergeant by the time she left the service.

Patti worked the Patient Access Manager for Greene Memorial Hospital and later was on the staff of a local medical office. She also provided assistance to Tri-Care health insurance enrollees at a call center in Dayton.

Patti was diagnosed with schizophrenia about eight years ago and struggled with the disease for the remainder of her life. At the time of her death, she had renewed her commitment to remain in treatment so that she could attain more balance and peace within herself and with her family. Her last few weeks were positive and productive.

Patti is survived by her devoted husband, Bryant C. Bolden and sons Neil and Collin of Huber Heights, Ohio; daughter Alexis Maki of Michigan's Upper Peninsula; brothers Alan Blagg (Anne Kenney) of Brooklyn, NY; and John Blagg of Southampton Mass., grandmother Natalie Spangler of Waterville Maine; three aunts, four uncles, six cousins, two nieces and one nephew.

Patti was an upbeat, smiling presence who enjoyed friends, music and lively activity. She was caring and kind in her interactions with others and she will be missed.

For the sake of your family and loved ones, please check the batteries in Carbon Monoxide detectors so this tragedy will not be repeated.

A visitation will be held Friday, April 10, 2015 from 9:00 AM until the Memorial Service at 10:30 AM at Living Word Church, 926 E. National Road, Vandalia, Ohio 45377. A private burial will be at the Dayton National Cemetery.

Donations may be made to any school music program, mental health research or veteran's organization.

"Yet, O stricken heart, remember, O remember how of human days she lived the better part. April came to bloom and never dim December breathed its killing chills upon the head or heart." - Stevenson.
