Pastor Dave Elkins, age 56, went home to be with the Lord on October 2, 2015 in Beavercreek, Ohio. He was born to the late Walter and Elinor Elkins.
At the age of 15, Dave gave his life to the Lord, and it wasn't long afterward that he first felt God's call to be a pastor. In June of 1991, he answered that call by moving with his family to Dayton, Ohio to begin Calvary Chapel of Dayton. He would serve the Lord there for the rest of his life, loving and building up everyone the Lord sent His way.
Though he poured himself fully into the work God had called him to, Dave never forgot to be a devoted husband to his wife and father to his daughters. He called his family his hobby, and he constantly looked for ways to show them how much he loved them. He especially treasured the opportunity he had to be a grandfather, both to the grandson who preceded him to heaven and his granddaughter who remains.
Pastor Dave is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Maria Elkins; two daughters Lydia (Brock) Paine and Bethany (Eric) Conkel; granddaughter Hazel; future grandchild Baby Conkel; three brothers John, Mike, Tim and sister Theresa. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bobby, Danny, Christopher and grandson Amalya Nathaniel Conkel.
A visitation will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Beavercreek Chapel, on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 5:00pm-7:00pm with a memorial service to follow at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Calvary Chapel of Dayton.
