Para L. Tibbs, age 82, of Englewood, passed away on December 1, 2021. She was born on March 9, 1939 in McKee, Kentucky to Julia and Burrett Harrison. She moved to the Dayton, Ohio area in the 1950's where she met and married the love of her life, Willie D. Tibbs in 1956. Together, they built an incredible life together that lasted 56 years until Willie's death in 2013. They raised two children and spent many great years pastoring churches in the Dayton area.
Para worked at several different jobs during her lifetime. She sold Avon, worked at Elder-Beerman, Fazio's, Lions, and Smedley's. At many of those jobs, you would find Para either out front greeting customers as they walked in the door or working the phones in Customer Service. She had a great work ethic and loved meeting people, an attribute that served her well in working alongside her husband in the ministry.
She made many friends during her lifetime and was blessed to be able to call some of them very close friends, all of whom helped her tremendously when Willie passed away. It was rare that a phone call or an email to us did not mention Brother and Sister Collins, Mary Robbins, Claire, Sue, Faye, or Maxine. The family would like you to know how grateful we are for your support of Para over the years.
Of all the things that defined her, she was a prayer warrior. She loved God and trusted in His word to both comfort and guide her through this life. She was also a woman who was not afraid to give you her honest opinion about something, and sometimes you didn't even have to ask for it!
Para's memory will be cherished by her loving children: James (Kathy) Tibbs and Deborah (Ron) Whited; grandchildren: Lindsey, David, Jonathan, Natalie, Chad, and Ashley; great-grandchildren: Garrett, Audrey, Grant, Alex, Sonya, Cansas, Kayla, Elizabeth, and Amaya; and her fur baby, Princess.
A visitation will be held from 9:30am to 10:30am on Friday, December 10, 2021 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, where the funeral service will begin by 10:30am, officiated by Reverend Ron Whited. She will be laid to rest at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens.
