Ottis (Gene) Bradley age 80, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. He grew up in Rockcastle County, Kentucky and knew the hills like the back of his hand. If he had been there once he could get there again. No map needed. He was a jack of all trades, as there were not many things he could not do or fix if he set his mind to it. He appreciated a hard day's work and overtime pay. He was a mechanic in the Army and became a cement mason after returning home. His hobbies were vast, from race car driving to turkey shooting, coon hunting and bee keeping. He always had a garden and enjoyed drying out green (shook) beans to enjoy later. He loved all types of music, westerns, and nature shows. He loved life and lived it with zeal. Eventually becoming a semi-truck driver and seeing the country from the cab of his truck.
Ottis looked forward to the first ripe tomato from his garden and slicing it into his biscuits and gravy. A favorite midnight snack, was crumbling corn bread into a cold glass of milk. He had a great sense of humor, so if he could figure out a way to scare you he would go to great length to make it happen.
He left a legacy and impressed upon his children a love and devotion to family. Often saying, "Family is all you got in this world." He honored honesty and hated hypocrites. He would give you his last dollar if he thought you needed it more than he did.
He leaves behind his brothers and their spouses, Phil and Barbara Bradley, Bill & Barb Bradley, Larry & Debbie Bradley; sister, Doris (Sis) Bradley Mullins; children, Angie Adkins, Tina Witters, Raymond (Phil) Bradley, Dann Bradley, Clarence Bradley, Tammy Bradley, Jessica Pfieffer, Maggie Smith; a slew of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Lacy Bradley and Eula Robins Bradley; sister, Genoia (Jenny) Nicely; brother, Charles (Charlie) Bradley; grandson, Joshua Brown; and granddaughter, Tara Lee Renner.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Centerville Chapel, 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton.
