Otis C. Powell Sr., age 85, of Butler Township passed away Friday, March 19, 2021. He was born October 14, 1935 in Oakdale, Tennessee to the late George and Genevra (Yarnell) Powell.
Otis served in the U.S Army for two years and the reserves for an additional four years. He retired from General Motors, Needmore Rd., after 32 years as a press operator. After retirement he drove for Roberts Express and enjoyed rehabbing and building homes around the Dayton area. He also enjoyed morning coffee at the Vandalia Waffle House with his buddies.
Otis was a faithful attender and supporter of Calvary Open Bible Church for 60 years serving with his time, talent, and treasures.
Otis is survived by his wife of 63 ½ years, Janet (Murphy) Powell; his son Pastor Daniel (Theresa) Powell; daughter Brenda (Matthew) Kuhn, PhD; son O. Cecil (Leslie) Powell Jr; daughter Rachel (David) Drusen; grandchildren Nathan (Emily) Powell, Chelsea (Jordan) McLeland, Lauren Kuhn, Matthew Kuhn, Jr., Luke Powell, Irene Powell, David Powell, Grant Drusen, Ross Drusen, and Nicholas Drusen; three great-grandchildren; his twin brother Everett (Lela) Powell of West Carrollton, OH; brother George Powell, Jr. of Vandalia, OH; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
In addition to his parents, Otis is preceded in death by his brothers Jesse Powell, Henry Powell, Lawrence Powell, and his sister Viola Cagles.
A private graveside service will be held in April. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary Open Bible Church. Text Calvaryobc to 73256.
