Oscar "Buck" Jones Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and member of his community, passed away on October 27, 2024 at the age of 79 in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on May 12, 1945 in Bryson City, North Carolina.
He had a distinguished career as an electrician, dedicating over 50 years to the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 82. His commitment to his trade was matched only by his dedication to his family and community. For 55 years, Buck was an active member of the Masons, most recently with the Tippecanoe Lodge #174 and previously with the Dayton Lodge #147. An honorable Navy veteran, Buck served his country with pride, and this service instilled in him values of teamwork and integrity.
A fervent NASCAR enthusiast, Buck enjoyed sharing his passion for motorsports, and he valued the time spent cheering for his favorite drivers. He found immense joy in attending his grandchildrens’ sporting events and other activities, always offering support and encouragement. Buck's presence was a source of strength for his family, who cherished the moments they spent together.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Jones; his daughters, Amy (Greg) Bullion and Jennifer (Pat) Bates; his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Wolfe, Alicia (Travis) Wright, Shaun (Erin Troutwine) Bullion, Natalie Bates, and Jackson Bates; and his great-granddaughter, Ryleigh Wolfe. Buck is also survived by his siblings, Anita (Billy) Wolfe, Janice (Wilbur) Driggers, and Wanda (Tommy) Johnson; his sister-in-law, Linda Jones; his brother-in-law, Thomas (Carolyn) Boos; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ezelle and Oscar Jones Sr.; his siblings, Windell Jones, Doris Woods, and Leslie Jones; brother-in-law, Gene Woods and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Alice and Elmer Boos.
A visitation to honor Buck's life will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH 45424. Buck will be laid to rest at Dayton Memorial Park in Dayton, OH.
Oscar “Buck” Jones Jr. will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his dedication to his work, and his passion for life. He leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
