Orville Powell

POWELL, Orville Mitchell, age 90, born in Madison County, Kentucky and resident of Dayton for over 62 years went home to be with his Savior and Lord on March 6.

He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII and was an Electrical Inspector for the City of Dayton for over 35 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Miamisburg and former member of Far Hills and Westwood Baptist Churches. He served Christ and followed Him faithfully. Although he was more a man of action than of words, those he touched love him deeply and knew that he loved them.

He will be sorely missed by his surviving daughter, Brenda Weller, her husband and his "son" Jim Weller, sister Geneva Kohlman of Florida, his dear friend Katherine Tarbett, as well as his family – blood related, by marriage, or through Christ and many other friends. He is preceded in death by beloved wife Verna, cherished daughter Donna, parents, siblings and their spouses, Verna's family, and a multitude of Christian brothers and sister.

Visitations and celebration of his life will be at First Baptist Church of Miamisburg, 323 N Eleventh St. with Rev. Spurgin officiating. Visitations are Wed. March 10 from 6-8 PM and Thurs. March 11 at 10 AM with service to follow. Please make a donation to the Hospice of Dayton in his memory.
