Orren Willsie Bacheller, age 94, passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 at home under the care of Hospice of Dayton.
He is preceded in death by his wife Rachel (Maas) in 2009, his parents, Frank Leo and Verna Bacheller; his sisters, Martha, Laura and Ruth. Orren Bacheller is survived by his brothers, Leo and Don, sisters, Gladys and Neva, children, Bruce (Catherine) Bacheller and Nancy Bacheller, and his grandson Robert Bacheller plus many nieces and nephews. He was a life-long member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, and most recently Miamisburg SDA Church. He graduated in 1942 with a Bachelor of Theology and in 1967 with a Master of Divinity from what is now Andrews University, and in 1977 with a Masters in Public Health from Loma Linda University. He was an ordained minister for 63 years. He pastured many churches, first in Illinois for 20 years, then in Florida for 20 years, where he retired in Clearwater, Florida in 1982. During the next 10 years he assisted in Clearwater for awhile, subsequently pastured 2 churches in West Virginia then finally Xenia, Ohio. He was a volunteer Chaplain at Sycamore Hospital and volunteered at the Good Neighbor House. When he could not drive anymore, he continued encouraging people with phone calls, cards and letters. He always wanted to "meet you in Heaven."
Family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, June 25, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
