Oral Edward Cox, JR, age 69 of Xenia, Ohio, and formerly of Bellbrook, Ohio, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 20, 2020, at home surrounded by his family. Born May 4. 1951, in Plummers Landing, Kentucky, to the late Oral Edker and Lucille (Reed) Cox.
Edward is remembered as a loving and faithful husband, strong and gentle father and grandfather, compassionate brother, and joyful servant of God. The care and compassion he shared in modeling 1 Corinthians 13 left a significant impact on the lives of his children, grandchildren, friends, and community.
Edward is survived by his wife of 49 years, Joyce Marie (Ashcraft) and his three children: Ryan (Anne-Marie) Cox, Xenia, Ohio; Aaron (Kari) Cox, Forest, VA; and Jeremy Cox, Xenia, OH; He was also the proud grandfather of six grandchildren: Ella, Matthew, Henry, and Silas Cox, Xenia, OH; Meredith and Anderson Cox of Forest, VA. Edward is also survived by his four sisters, Wilma (Thomas) Heiney of Fairborn, OH; Wanda (Dave) Taylor of Springfield, OH; Barbara (Mike) New of Urbana, OH; and Joyce Cox of Fairborn, OH.
Edward was a 1969 graduate of Fairborn High School, and a 1973 graduate of Wright State University with a bachelors degree in Business. By trade, he was a general contractor and custom home builder in the Beavercreek, Springboro, Jamestown, and Bellbrook communities.
He met his wife as teenagers in church through mutual friends. God has given them a very, wonderful life together, with our three sons, daughter-in-laws, and sweet grandchildren! Members of Dayton Avenue Baptist Church. We are so blessed that our God has walked very closely with us on our journey.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Dayton Avenue Baptist Church (1121 Dayton Avenue Xenia, Ohio 45385). Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 pm at the church with Pastor Jon Young officiating. Edward will be laid to rest at Bellbrook Cemetery following services.
