Opal Kessler

January 25, 1940 — June 5, 2014

Opal L. Kessler, 74, of Kettering, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born January 25, 1940 in Campton, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Clarence and Ida (Hollon) Cockerham.

Opal was a member of the USBC and a member of the Tuesday Night Distaff Bowling League for many years. She was a devoted employee of the 7-Up Bottling Company for over 50 years, retiring in 2009. Opal attended Miami Shores Missionary Baptist Church of Moraine.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Edna Cockerham, Earl Cockerham, Gladys Stamper, Maggie Tutt, Arthur "A.C." Cockerham, Jim Cockerham.

Opal is survived by her husband of 47 years, James Kessler; children, Charles Alan (Teresa) Kessler, Terri (Byron) Schooler; grandchildren, Keith and Keirsten Schooler; sisters, Gertrude Trimble, Ann Tyra, Glenda "Faye" Pence; numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends including, Clara Baker and Lou Taylor.

Visitation will be held from 10 am-Noon, Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Miami Shores Missionary Baptist Church, 4000 Vance Road, Moraine, Ohio 45439 where funeral services will begin at Noon Tuesday. Burial at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
