Opal (Sias) Gillam went home to Heaven on October 26, 2017, where she was reunited with her dear husband of 48 years, Carlton E. Gillam. Opal was born on April 12, 1923 in Logan, WV to Everett and Annie Sias. For all of her 94 years, she was a light that shined brightly for her family and her many friends, and her caring hands helped many patients throughout her career at Grandview Hospital. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and all of her siblings (Clarence, Otis, Okie, Billie, Curtis, James, Ruby, Ruth and Lola). Her light shines on in her beloved daughter, Anna Maria Walz and in her son-in-law Tom Walz, who she loved as her own. No one brought a smile to Opal's face quite like her grandson, Adam (Brittany) Horseman, and Opal was endlessly proud of her granddaughter, Molly Walz, who is pursuing her dreams in New York City. Camden Grace and Jacob Thomas Horsemen were blessed to call Opal their "Gigi." Opal also deeply loved her many nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2017 from 3-4pm at Newcomer - Beavercreek Chapel, where services in celebration of a life well lived will begin at 4pm. Burial will follow in Point Pleasant, WV next to the love of her life on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Opal's memory to Crossroads Hospice of Dayton, Ohio.
