Mrs. Olivia Claytor, affectionately known as "Red", "Bunny" and "Nanny'' was born on April 24, 1930 in Middletown, Ohio to Mark Oliver and Eloise Bigby. She went home to join her beloved husband, Alvin L. Claytor with the Lord on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at Hospice of Dayton.
Olivia was preceded in death by her parents, Mark Oliver & Eloise Bigby; her beloved husband, Alvin L. Claytor; 11 brothers and sisters; her unborn child; and her son, Carlton C. Claytor, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory her son & daughters-in-law: Terrence & Kathy Claytor and Dorothy Claytor all of Dayton; six grandchildren: Lester (Isis), Monica, Tasha (LaMont), Teri, Jonas and Carlton, Jr.; several great-grandchildren; special brother-in-law, Armand Robinson of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and a host of other special relatives and friends.
After attending high school, Olivia traveled to Detroit, Michigan where she met her beloved husband, Alvin L. Claytor and began the start of their family. She was a nurse at a local Detroit hospital. The couple then later traveled to Dayton, Ohio where they continued to grow their family. She was a member of Mt. Enon Baptist Church and a retiree of Frigidaire, General Motors. Mrs. Olivia was a domestic, loving, caring and strong wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known for her spunkiness, class, elegance and outspoken/courageous personality. Along with her personality, she was known for her great soul and comfort food. Her greens were out of sight, but that lemon meringue pie always caused a fight.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 am on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Pastor Cory Pruitt officiating.
