Billy Crutchfield
Age 84, of Dayton, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2006. Obed was born March 4, 1922 in Lexington, Kentucky to Robert & Alice (Dunn) Crutchfield. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Mae Webb and by one brother, Ed Crutchfield.
Obed is survived by his wife of the past 17 years, Margaret R. (Copson) Crutchfield; two daughters, Johnnetta Wade of Dayton and Aloma & Jack Gibbs of Columbus; the mother of his two daughters, Corrine Crutchfield of Dayton; five grandchildren, Erica, Carissa, Tiffany, Anna and Jack Jr; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Eliza Nelson of Dayton and Adele Crutchfield of Tampa, Florida.
Obed was a member of the First Wesleyan Church, a WW II U. S. Army Veteran, active with the V.F.W. Post # 10453, and retired from General Motors with 30 years of service. Funeral services will be held at 10:45 a.m., Friday at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton. Rev. William Stringer will officiate. Interment will follow at Dayton National Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family would prefer that donations be made in memory of Obed to Hospice of Dayton or the Dayton Area Diabetes Association.
