McKinniss, Oakley Wendell, age 80, of Miami Township, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Dayton VA Hospital Hospice after of lengthy illness.
He was born October 18, 1933 in Jackson County, Ohio to the late Oakley R. & Sally (Estler) McKinniss. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Jerry & Wayne McKinniss.
Oakley was a United States Army Veteran proudly serving during the Korean War with CO C 8th ENGR © BN.
Oakley is survived by his siblings: Donna (Limond) Comley, Harold (Carol) McKinniss, Nyla Palmer, Bennie (Vicki) McKinniss & Debra (Kenney) Emberson; sisters-in-law: Donna Castle & Betty McKinniss; numerous nieces and nephews who loved their special uncle; and a host of brothers and sisters at his church, Abundant Life Tabernacle.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Abundant Life Tabernacle, 9440 Eby Road, Germantown, Ohio 45327 with Pastor James Setser officiating. The family will receive friends at church on Friday afternoon from 1:00 P.M. until time of service. A graveside service with military honors will take place at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either, ALT Church, Salvation Army or Dayton VA Hospice in memory of Oakley. Arrangements in care of Newcomer Funeral Home – South Chapel.
