N. Keith von Cannon, age 91 of Kettering passed away on Tuesday October 3, 2017 at Symphony at Centerville where he was an end of life patient since September 13, 2017. Born October 19, 1925 in Kokmo, IN. to the late Russell and Freda (Young) von Cannon, in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter Kalee Moran Cook.
After graduating from Camden High School in Camden, NJ, He did a tour with the Naval Air Corps during World War II. Keith then relocated back to Indiana where he spent five years at John Herron Art School Studying painting and the fine Arts. Upon graduating from John Herron he spent days working at Indiana Bell and his evenings and weekends teaching art and painting while continuing art study at night school. In 1957 he joined NCR's engineering department in Dayton, and in 1973 was transferred to ECI in St. Petersburg, FL. During Keith's many years of doing art work, it was a thrill for him to walk in drug stores and see his work on magazine covers. When his health would not permit him to work in his studio, he missed the smell of the oil paint and the feel of the canvas.
Keith is survived by his wife Bernadine of Kettering, his only child Alicia (Joe) Cook of Bellbrook and Grandsons Cannon and Landon Cook also of Bellbrook and sister Sharon Keeley of Vandalia. Keith's family wishes to thank Symphony at Centerville for their outstanding care and compassion and also Hospice of Dayton. Newcomer of Kettering is in charge of Final arrangements. Keith's wishes were that there were to be no services.
