Norman Charles Hochwalt, Iii

June 29, 1959 — April 24, 2019

HOCHWALT, Norman Charles III "Stormin' Norman" Age 59, of West Carrollton, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2019. He courageously confronted and battled the effects of ALS for the last year. Norm is preceded in death by his parents Norman "Tim" Hochwalt Jr. and Carol Hochlwalt. He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Dawn Hochwalt; children, Courtney Hochwalt (30), Austin Hochwalt (26), Darian Stephens (20), Kenton Hochwalt (10), Jennifer Borchers (34); Lola, his faithful German Shepard that never left his side during his illness; sisters, Tess (Pete) Aiena, Marita (Bryan) Muiter, Paula (Jeff) Sexton; brother, Ed (Jaime) Hochwalt; 4 Nieces, Christine, Lindsey, Jordan and Mackenzie; 7 nephews, Nick, Conner, Caleb, Evan, Eric, Trent and Bryan; as well as many close friends and extended family members such as the Smiths, Jon Cardwell, and Kate & Derek Manning.

Norm was a lifelong resident of West Carrollton, OH. He graduated from West Carrolton High School and received his B.S. in Finance from Wright State University. He was just a few years into a very active retirement from UPS after 35 years.

Norm was a bright light to those around him and was a true source of life. Someone with a great sense of humor who embraced his time on earth with a passion for being connected to his family and friends. Your kids were his kids. He never missed a chance to engage and spend time with the children of his extended family. He was the de-facto activities director for all family events, ensuring that everyone made the most of the time together. He was a coach, a confidant and a mentor to family, extended family and friends. He embraced being outdoors, had a true sense of adventure and instilled his sense of adventure to those around him. He loved being on the water; boating, jet skiing and especially fishing. He cherished his spring trips to Lake Eufalua, AL and summers spent at Lake Lakengren. Many of his friends and family have been awoken early in the morning to hear; "Let's go wet a line." He encouraged everyone to embrace life, rain or shine, and have no regrets.

Norm's family would especially like to the recognize the ALS Association and Hospice of Dayton for the support and care they provided during Norm's illness. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to Hospice of Dayton & ALS Association of Central & Southern Ohio.

The family will greet family & friends from 5:30-7:30 pm on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd Kettering, OH 45439 with a Celebration of Life service starting at 7:30 pm.
