Norene Carter

Carter, Norene, age 89, passed away Sept. 13, 2005 in Germantown, OH. She was born in Russell County, KY July 31, 1916. Norene was preceded in death by her parents Columbus and Mattie L. (Grider) Garner-Flatt, son William Glen Carter, former husband John Ray Carter, two brothers Orlie Flatt, Joe Flatt, and sisters-in-law Daisy Flatt, Nell James, Vena McCarthy, Opal Laytham, Ada Carter, Mae Alexander, brothers-in-law Luther James, Elgin Alexander, Sterling Carter, Earnest Carter, and son-in-law Ralph Estridge. Three nephews preceded her in death, Bobby, Jerry, and Danny Flatt as well as many wonderful relatives from the south. Survived by loving daughters Vena Estridge, Sue Butler, and devoted son John E. Carter. She leaves behind two wonderful daughters-in-law Carol Carter, Patricia Jordan, and family friend Richard Jordan. She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, Maria Comer (Bob), Mary Akers (Steve), Michelle Butler, Michael Butler, Melissa Kunkle (Keith), and Eric Carter. She was the great grandmother of seven great grandchildren, Michael, Dustin, Megan, Kayleigh, Dylan, Taylor, Tyler, and step great granddaughter Koli. Mom was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She leaves behind special life time friends, Hazel Carson, Fannie Trimble, and Joyce and Chuck Brest families, also sisters-in-law Lillian Flatt of Dayton, Margie Carter of Georgia, brother-in-law John McCarthy of Riverside, IL, many special nieces, nephews, and several cousins living in KY. Mom lived her life committed to her children and their families. We are blessed to have her so many wonderful years. Mom's memory will be with us always. A special thank you to the entire staff at Friendly Nursing Home of Germantown, Hospice of Dayton, Loraine, Lee, Laura, and Melinda of Hospice, Dr. Cheryl Skinner of Middletown, Middletown Hospital C level cancer staff, and the many drivers at EMT Ambulance Service for all the love and care given to Mom. Services are scheduled for 10AM Saturday, Sept 17 at Newcomer Funeral, 4104 Needmore Rd. in Dayton with Pastor Tim Benkert officiating. Burial will follow at Forrest Hills Memorial Gardens in Tipp City. Family will receive friends Friday, Sept 16 from 5PM-8PM at the funeral home. Donations may be made in Norene's memory to Hospice of Dayton.
