Norbert Dryer

February 6, 1924 — December 16, 2012

Dryer, Norbert T. "Babe" age 88, was brought home on Sunday, December 16, 2012 from Wood Glenn Alzheimer's Community. Norb was born February 6, 1924 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He is survived by Estelle (Carrell) Dryer, who he was married to for 50 years; sons, Bob (Sharon) and Charlie (Pam) Dryer; daughters, Cherrie (John) Treber, Donna Dryer, and Lynn (Ray) McCoy; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews of his children who also thought of Norb as Grandpa. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Winnie (Rauch) Dryer, brothers, Tom, Joe and James Dryer, sisters, Jennie Lysaght and Mary June Herzog. Norb was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force, serving as a radio control operator. Norb worked 37 years as an electronic technician for Avco and the Mead Corporation. In his earlier years Norb was a lector at Holy Family Church. Norb enjoyed life and sports, still playing softball in his 80's at our family reunions. Norb brought joy to many people with his outgoing exuberant loving personality. Even in his declining years, every day was a beautiful day, "I got a wonderful feeling everything's going our way, hey, hey." And his advice was just to be happy. I thank the Lord for sending the Holy Spirit to fill Norb's soul with God's wonder and love divine to separate Norb from the external decline of his body. I want to give thanks to his sister in law Agnes and all his nephews and nieces who gave so much attention and love to Norb at our family reunions in Cincinnati. Thanks to Mom for the years she has given to Norb, and Donna who took dad into her home when his Alzheimer's progressed and cared for him for 9 years allowing dad to be just a child of God. Friends may call from 6 to 9pm on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:30am on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Evercare Hospice or the Alzheimer's Association.
