Nora LaViana (Heffner) Storer passed away peacefully July 02, 2024 at her home in Huber Heights, Ohio at the age of 93. Nora was born to Harrison Franklin and Anna Mae (Coulers) Heffner on January 12, 1931 in Bethel Township, Phoneton, Ohio.
Nora graduated from Bethel High School in 1949 as Valedictorian of her class. She worked for Wright-Patterson Air Force Base as a secretary for many years, until leaving to start her family in 1958.
She loved to crochet, read, do cross word puzzles, and search and find books. Nora crocheted towels that you could hang in your kitchen for every holiday (then we would give them out as Christmas presents), Barbie doll clothes, afghans, baby blankets, and Mr. and Mrs. Snowman. She coached the girls’ softball team at Emmanuel Church of the Brethren many years ago and we are still in touch with some of the former players. Nora enjoyed working at the election polls in Huber Heights for numerous years.
Nora worked side by side with her late husband, Russell (Russ) with their Storer Radio, TV and Sound Service. They provided sound services for Wayne High School games including football, baseball, soccer, track & field and even PeeWee Football. They also serviced several Ohio County Fairs and Festivals, Horse Shows, Car Shows, Community Events, and Fund Raisers. Russ and Nora would also drive around to announce the anticipated arrival of Santa Claus at Throckmorton's for many years.
Nora was preceded in death by her father, Harrison Franklin and mother, Anna Mae Heffner; siblings: Verda, Elsie, Ernest, Carrie, Ruth, Paul and Don; her late, husband of 67 years, Russell (Russ) Storer who passed on March 26, 2024. They are now happily together in Heaven.
Nora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who is survived by her children: Judy, Rick, Candie, and Bruce (Mary); grandsons: Jeremy and James (Juliana); great-grandsons: Nathan, Preston, and Tristan; and great-granddaughter: Addison; like a daughter, Debbie (Jack) Wheeler; several nieces and nephews; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Our greatest appreciation goes to our brother, Rick for the loving care he gave to mom and dad. The family wishes to extend a very heartfelt and grateful thanks to the lifelong friends and neighbors of Nora that shared so many unforgettable memories. We would also like to thank everyone at Hospice of Dayton, with special thanks to Stacy (the butterflies won’t fly away) and Leslie, and a thank you to Kettering Home Health Care, especially Big John.
