Nim Wah "Philip" Lau, age 67 of Union, passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2019. Nim Wah was born in Hong Kong on January 11, 1952. He immigrated to the United States in 1972 and met and married the love of his life, Tamara in 1976. He and Tamara owned their own restaurant, Lotus Garden, in Northern Kentucky. He most recently worked in the tool and die manufacturing industry at Carmichael Machine Corporation.
Nim Wah enjoyed going to the race track and playing at the casinos. He was a gambler at heart. Nim Wah was also a skilled bowler. He took great pride in his family and loved to spend time with them. He loved spending time with his family while eating food. Nim Wah was known to take his family on vacations centered around food.
Nim Wah was preceded in death by his parents, Lam Hay and Sheun Lau.
Nim Wah leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife of 43 years, Tamara Lau; daughter, Tina (Michael Byrd) Lau Maynard; brother, Dennis Lau and wife; niece and nephew, Bohong and Boman; dear friend, Benjamin (Suzanne) Ho; and many other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 4pm at Newcomer North Chapel. Family will greet friends and loved ones for two hours prior (2pm - 4pm).
Nim Wah will be laid to rest at Grandview Cemetery, Bremen, OH with a private family ceremony.
