Nihat Akture

AKTURE, MD, Nihat, age 80, passed away Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Hospice of Dayton of natural causes, after a lengthy illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia; step-daughter, Kathryn (Rob) Ryan; sons, Tamer (Deneen) Akture and Alper (Camilla) Akture; daughter, Suzanne (Doug) Burnside; grandchildren, Olivia Akture and Blake Burnside. He was a longtime Dayton physician and was the director of the St. Elizabeth Emergency Room, before going into private practice. A gentle giant, but humble man, who through his journey in life touched many lives and hearts with his caring soul and healing hands. May memories take sadness from your heart and gently replace it with the warmth of shared moments. He is at home now and at peace. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Islamic Society of Dayton, 26 Josie St., Dayton, 45403. Burial will take place in Istanbul, Turkey. Memorial services are pending.
