DAVIS, Nellie (Bashaw), age 75, of Washington Township, passed away Sunday, August 29.
Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ollie Mae Bashaw of Middletown and sister, Eldora Hollon.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Thomas; son, James (Saundra) of Washington Township; daughter, Jennifer of Indianapolis; granddaughters, Kristin and Kate of Washington Township; brothers, John Bashaw (Lois) of Orlando, FL, Richard Bashaw of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Norma Isbell (Eddie) of Middletown, Roberta Hasty (Jim) of Farmersville, Caroline Downs (Steve) of Middletown and Connie DePew (Don) of Carlisle and many nieces and nephews.
Nellie greatly enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters and their families, as well as many friends over the years. She enjoyed traveling, riding the bicycle trails, reading and other activities. She was a long time active member of Central Presbyterian Church. Nellie retired from the Dayton Area Heart and Cancer Association where she served as Director of the Greater Dayton Area Central Cancer Registry for many years until she became Assistant Executive Director of DAH&CA. She was a Founding Member of the National Cancer Registrars Association, The Ohio Cancer Registrars Association and the Miami Valley Cancer Registrars Association. Nellie was a Certified Cancer Registrar and served, for thirteen years, as a Regional Field Consultant for The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. Our sincere thanks to Dr. Basel Yanes for his care and also to all the oncologists and staff of the Medical Hematology Oncology Associates for their kind and caring ways.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 1 at Central Presbyterian Church (4699 Lamme Rd. Dayton, OH 45439) with Pastor Dave Jackson officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of service. A private Inurnment at David's Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Steve Watson Memorial Fund at Central Presbyterian Church.
