Kearns, Ned H. 79 of Huber Heights died Monday May 19, 2008 after a courageous fight with cancer. He is survived by Eleanor, his wife of 55 years for whom he provided loving care as she battles Alzheimer's. He is also survived by two sisters Geri Gabriel of Piqua, OH and Caroline Kowalchek of Tucson, AZ; son David and daughter in-law Connie of Oakwood; son Michael and daughter in-law Kris of Yellow Springs; grandchildren Erin, Elizabeth, Matthew, Lindsay, Kaitlin and Alexandra. He grew up in Piqua, OH. Ned retired from the Air Force as a Msgt in 1968 after 20 years of service and worked for SRL in Beavercreek until 1994. He was a Boy Scout leader and Eagle Scout. He was a world traveler and loved his motor home and camping at Kirkmont and traveling with Cardinal Winnies of Ohio. He would always find time to help the church and friends. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Kurt and Cindy, Chuck and Jan, members of the Huber Heights Alzheimer's/Dementia Support Group, members of Faith United Presbyterian Church, Sunrise of Oakwood and Acclaim Hospice. Funeral services will be held 10:00AM Friday, May 23, 2008 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00PM Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contrubutions may be made to American Cancer Society and Alzheimer's Association.
