LANKFORD, Sr., Nathaniel "Sandy" O., age 85, of Fairborn, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 26, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents, Poe and Annie Lankford. Sandy is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris Lankford; children, Nancy (Rodger) Keeton, Linda (Gary) Agnor, Buddy Lankford, Ed (Cheryle) Lankford, and James (Heather) Lankford; 10 grandchildren, Jenny, Nick, Jason, Billy, Heather, Adam, Tyler, Megan, Brenna, and Lauren; 7 great grandchildren, and half-sister, Maddie Foster.
He served during WWII in the United States Army and retired from WPAFB after 35 years of service. He was very involved with the community. He drove a school bus for many years for the Fairborn City Schools, as well as for his church, was a volunteer police officer and firefighter for Bath Township. Sandy was also involved with his granddaughters in the YMCA Adventure Princess Program. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whom will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, with memorial services following at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
