Nathan "Jimmy" Flournoy, Jr. of Dayton, Ohio passed away on June 16, 2012. He was born January 9, 1929 to the late Nathan and Carrie Stephens Flournoy in Lee County, Alabama. He is also preceded in death by 3 siblings and the late Mrs. Sarah Mae Francis Boyd Flournoy-Ogletree, mother of his children.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his caretaker and companion, Mary Montgomery of Dayton, Ohio; daughters: Carean (Ralph) Bankston of Decatur, Georgia and Nadine (Jimmy) Maddox of LaGrange, Georgia; sister, Sarah Woody of Lanett, Alabama; 2 brothers: Mr. Charlie Flournoy of Tallahassee, Florida and Mr. Roosevelt (Louise) Flournoy of Lanett, Alabama; one aunt, Mrs. Nellie Stephens of Atlanta, Georgia; sister-in-law, Linda Flournoy; 4 grandchildren: Deron (Monica) Bankston of Rogers, Arkansas, Brian (Shonda) Bankston of Lithonia, Georgia and Christopher (Burnadett) Maddox of LaGrange, Georgia; 16 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two daughters: Delois and Phyllis; special son, Tony; 10 grandchildren including a special grandson he raised, Jaron, all of Dayton; and a host of other family and friends including Forrest and Shirley Woods and Patty Woods. He retired from Centerville Florist Shop and Gettysburg Fishing Lake.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, June 25, 2012 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Road, where the family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 12:30 – 1:30 pm. Pastor B.L. Peterson officiating. Burial to follow at Shiloh Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to help with final expenses.
