Naomi Yellowdy, 68, passed away in Dayton, Ohio on February 20, 2025. Naomi was a vibrant, funny, and god-fearing woman. She has a way with her words that could cut you as deep as her stare. She always meant what she said and did what she meant. Naomi was a listening ear to you, but in the end she would say “what did God say”.
Naomi went to Roosevelt High School and was graduate class of 1974. She continued on to Sinclair Community College as a graduate class in 1988 with a degree in Community Based Corrections. Naomi served her country through the US Navy from 1976 to 1991 with her most recent position in law enforcement. Post Navel career, she channeled in on her love for animals working for Parks and Recreation with the city of Dayton. Naomi also put her law enforcement skills to work with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections. She even took more of a back-seat approach in the Records Clerk Department and Department of Veteran Affairs.
Naomi loved to pass the time by playing solitaire, reading, sending random YouTube links in the middle of the night, or sharing of her memories from her childhood days, to her military shenanigans. She was very grounded in her faith. She served the Lord with all of her heart, singing and directing the choir, teaching Youth Sunday School, leading Praise and Worship Services, and being our impromptu Bible guru. Naomi played volleyball for the Navy, and served over seas in Cuba. You can find Naomi glued to sports like swimming or gymnastics, crime shows such as “Buried in the back yard”, and DIY. Believe it or not, Naomi was a dancer and enjoyed a wide range of music genres. Her favorite color is RED.
Naomi enjoyed online ordering from sending gifts from Amazon, to feeding you with Door Dash. She liked her medium well steak with a little bit of pink, baked potatoes, seafood, to always being a sucker for a good burger with all the fixings.
One of Naomi’s favorite bible scriptures is Matthew 6:9-13.
Naomi was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy M. Huggins of Troy, Ohio and special friend, Michael Ramey of Dayton Ohio.
Naomi is survived by her children, Michal N. Huggins, of Dayton Ohio and Herbert S. Yellowdy of Dayton, Ohio; her grandchildren, Mercedes L. Huggins of Dayton, Ohio and Frank M.
