Myla "Jo" Raye Bragg (Bussell)

May 26, 1955 — January 25, 2025

Myla "Jo" Raye Bragg (Bussell), a beacon of love and joy, left this world on January 25, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on May 26, 1955, she lived a life filled with warmth, kindness, and a profound dedication to her family. Jo was not only a mother and grandmother but a cherished friend to many, whose laughter and caring spirit touched the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.

A proud member of the First Pentecostal Church of Marlin Heights, Jo found solace and strength in her faith, which guided her through both the joyous and trying moments of life. Her love for life was infectious, and she embraced every opportunity to create lasting memories with her children and grandchildren. Jo's devotion as a mother is reflected in her beloved children, William Bussell and Nickole McCormick (Dean), who carry her legacy forward.

Jo is survived by her bonus children, Daniel Bragg, Kim Bragg, and Amber Bragg, all of whom she adored and welcomed into her heart and family. Her siblings, Mona Lisa Knox, Rocky Davidson, James Davidson, Keith White, and James Caudill. Her grandchildren, including Michael McCormick (Logan), Maeson McCormick, Devin Rowland, Jesse Rowland, Nevaeh Bragg, Madison Burnside, Bentley Burnside, and Andrew Burnside, were the treasures of her life. The joy she felt in being their grandmother was only matched by that of her great-grandchildren, Jack and Avery McCormick, whose smiles brought her boundless happiness.

Jo's spirit lives on in the cherished bonds she made with her many nieces, including Maggie Phipps, Rachel Strader, and Lacey Kincaid, and in the countless friends who considered her family. She is remembered fondly for her genuine warmth, her happy disposition, and the love she so freely shared.

Jo is now reunited with her twin sister, Nyla Strader; her husbands, Michael McCormick and Daniel Bragg; her daughter, Kelly McCormick; and her parents, Ernest Bussell and Mary White. Though they are no longer with us, the love they shared continues to echo in the hearts of those left behind.

A visitation to celebrate Jo’s life will be held on January 30, 2025, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, Ohio. Her memory will forever remain a blessing, and her legacy of love will continue to inspire and uplift all who were fortunate enough to know her.
