Muriel L. (Heller)Vandivier, 88, of Beavercreek, passed away November 1, 2012.
Born September 2, 1924 in Sherwood, Ohio the daughter of Grayce (Simmons) and Charles Heller. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Larry Heller and infant grandson Jonathan Vandivier.
She is survived by her children, Mark Vandivier (Karen) of NC, Gerri Moore of Centerville, Karla Vandivier of Beavercreek, Tom Vandivier of NC, sister-in-law Janet Heller of Defiance, Grandsons: Steven Mehaffie, Brian, Thomas, Adam and Nicholas Vandivier and Great Granddaughters: Marina Mehaffie and Alexandrea Vandivier. Also, surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.
She received her R. N. from Lima Memorial Hospital in 1945. Married to Guy G. Vandivier, Jr. on September 21,1945. She resided in Greenville, Ohio from 1958 until 1973, then moved to Dayton until retiring to Winter Haven, Florida. Muriel resided in Mooresville, NC for several years and returned to Ohio in 2004. She was employed at Westinghouse, Union City, Indiana as an industrial nurse and retired from Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, as a surgery nurse. In her youth, she studied the piano and the family has many fond memories of gathering around her and singing as she played. Muriel was an avid golfer and cherished her golfing girlfriends. At the age of 70, she had her first hole-in-one. She enjoyed all types of crafts and needlepoint, many which have become precious family keepsakes. Muriel will be missed by all that knew her.
A grave side memorial service in Greenville, Ohio is planned at a later date.
