Monty L. Liles age 64, passed away October 7, 2021, at Soin Medical Center in Beavercreek, Ohio. He was born March 29, 1957, to Walt and Doris Liles of New Lebanon, Ohio. Monty worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for the 88th Civil Engineer Group. Within that group he was first in Infrastructure Engineering, then Service Contracts, and finally Construction Management. He had just decided that 37 years was a good time to call it a day but didn't get to make it official.
He was a member of the Xenia Church of Christ where he was an appointed Deacon. He took great care of finding teachers for the children there. He also helped oversee Children's Church and in charge of the Puppet Ministry. Monty was also a former member of Belmont Church of Christ where he had served as a part-time Youth Minister as well. While there, he helped build a Puppet Castle which created life-long relationships for the teens. Monty was a strong believer in teaching children in a way that God would be with them for the rest of their lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walt and Doris Liles: his brother Ray Liles. Monty is survived by his wife of 31 years Shelly Liles, two sons: Evan Liles (Fiancé, Madison Urban); Caden Liles; brother Steve (Joyce) Liles and many other loving family members and friends.
Monty lived a very full life with his family and his friends. As a young boy he delivered the Dayton Daily Newspaper unlike anyone else. He delivered the paper on his unicycle! Later he would join the Dayton Youth Chorus and made so many life-long relationships there. He talked about the Chorus through the years with very fond memories. Then followed beach trips and ski trips with his friends. He graduated from Sinclair Community College then soon after acquired work at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Through the years Monty was always around to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Our family agrees he was quite the craftsman. Later he met Shelly and then ensued many adventures with Evan and Caden. One of many being the numerous bike rides that will never be forgotten.
In Lieu of flowers you may send donations to Fort Hill Christian Youth Camp or Xenia Church of Christ.
