JACOBS, Monroe, 84 of Kettering, went home to be with the Lord Palm Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton, after a 6 year lengthy illness. He was born February 19, 1926 in Columbus, OH. Monroe retired in 1988 from Standard Register as a Photo Offset with 43 years of service. He enjoyed golfing and ministering to the sick after his retirement. Monroe was a member of Bethel Christian for 56 years and presently attended Miamisburg Assembly of God. He loved the Lord and was an active member in the church using his gifted artistic talents to paint scenes from the Bible on Sunday School walls designing, painting, and constructing props for church pageants. Monroe loved to minister with his voice and sang solos during church services and other events. He served as President of the Choir, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, ministered with chalk talks in Sunday School classes, President of the Sanctuary Sunday School class for 27 years, and served the church as a deacon for 37 years. Monroe loved to travel with his wife visiting all 50 states and 29 foreign countries and especially enjoyed his trip to Israel also a MAPS sponsored trip to Puerto Rico where he helped repair a mission church. Monroe was preceded in death by his parents, Luther and Stella Jacobs; 2 brothers; 1 sister, and his 2 years old baby daughter, Debra Lynn. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Anne (Damico) Jacobs, who lovingly cared for him throughout his illness. He will be sorely missed by a host of many relatives and friends. Everyone will always remember his firm hand shake and the words "Lord Bless You." Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, with Pastor John Swint officiating. Family will receive friends from 9:30 am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Miamisburg Assembly of God, Bethel Christian, or Hospice of Dayton. The family would very much like to thank both Kettering and Miami Valley Hospitals, as well as Hospice of Dayton.
