Mimi was born to Bernadine Ryan in Appleton, Wisconsin, on May 11, 1940. She grew up in Milwaukee, where she graduated from Milwaukee High School and enjoyed a brief modeling career. She married her second husband, George Albert Caraway Jr., in 1964. Together, they raised two daughters, Jennifer and Cathy, in Morton, Illinois, where Mimi worked in real estate.
She also worked in various retail management positions. After moving to Ohio in 2007, she volunteered at Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Bethlehem Lutheran School and taught Silver Sneaker exercise classes at the Fairborn YMCA.
Mimi was always the life of the party and knew no strangers. She would befriend anyone, including people she met in line while shopping.
Later in life, Mimi discovered that her true passion was art. Her mediums included watercolor, acrylic, and porcelain, which she fired in her own kiln. Mimi also made her own paper for handmade cards that she created. She belonged to the Fairborn Art Association, where she displayed and sold her art.
She is survived by her two girls, Jennifer Caraway and Cathy Tuma (Don); granddaughters Ashleigh Tuma (Caitlin), Melanie Adams (Andrew), and Madison Caraway; and great grandson, Joel Adams. Mimi's mother, Bernadine, and Mimi's husband, George, preceded her in death.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021, 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fairborn. Family will greet friends after the memorial service. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.NewcomerDayton.com.
In remembrance of Mimi's life, the family asks that any charitable donations please be made to The Alzheimer's Association.
