Milton D. Abrams Jr. was the first of nine children born to Milton and Edna Abrams. He was born on July 11, 1929 at St. Luke Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and departed this life on December 21, 2022 at the V.A. Hospice Unit in Dayton, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, two daughters, a son, three brothers, and a grandson, Corey Abrams.
Milton accepted Christ at an early age in Chicago under the watchful eye of his devoted grandmother, Alice Abrams. Later in life, he elected to be baptized as a born-again Christian, by Rev. Willie Roland at his church home, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio.
Milton attended Forestville Elementary School and DuSable High School in Chicago, Illinois. During this period, he met and married Theresa Jackson with whom he fathered two daughters, Saundra and Sheila. In order to support his family, Milton elected to join the United States Army and also to follow his passion for adventure and travel. He completed one tour of duty with the occupational Army in Germany and was then discharged to the United States Army Reserve in Chicago. During this separation from active military duty, he was employed by the United States Postal Service in Chicago for three years. Within this time period, his first wife died.
Milton returned to military service in 1955 with the United States Air Force and served extensive tours of duty in Japan, Okinawa, England and Viet Nam. During this period, he met and married Elizabeth Jackson of Washington, D.C. Born from this union was a daughter, Crystal Marie. Milton's family was enriched with Ricardo, Eric and Gail, Elizabeth's three children from a previous marriage.
Milton embarked upon a diligent pursuit to further his education during the later years he was in service. He continued this pursuit well after his retirement from the United States Air Force in 1974. He received an Associate Degree in Business Management from Wright State University, in Fairborn, OH. He was a devoted life-time member of Gen. Chappie James American Legion Post 776. Milton was also a member of three Masonic houses in the Dayton area - Edward Dugger Jr. Military Lodge #123, Lincoln Chapter #2 R.A.M., and Miami Consistory #26, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rites, where he was a 33rd Degree Mason.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Elizabeth; his beloved children: Crystal Hunter (Duane), Gail Jackson, Ricardo Jackson (Bonnie); 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Dolores Abrams and Alice (Eddie) Rollins; three brothers: Michael (Barbara) Abrams, John (Carestella) Abrams and Mott C. Abrams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

A visitation will be held from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton. During the visitation Masonic Services will begin at 2:30pm. Following the visitation a Funeral Service will begin at 4:00pm, officiated by Rev. Vanetta Bellows. Milton will be laid to rest at Dayton National Cemetery at a later date.
