Mildred Mae Pearman

March 17, 1931 — May 17, 2023

Mildred (Millie), age 92, went peaceably to be with the Lord on May 17th. She is survived by her son Rod of GA (Patty), and granddaughters Jae Michalak (Yellow Springs) and Ashley Walters (Craig) as well as 3 great grandchildren (Troy), and granddaughters Kristen Keen (GA) and Kim Davis (OH).

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband James (Jim) Pearman and parents, Forrest and Emma, brothers Tody, Allen, Dutch, Charlie and Bill, sisters Marie and Helen, daughter Cheryl Michalak, and daughter-in-law Pam Pearman.

Millie was born on St. Patrick's Day, 1931 in Marathon, Ohio, and was the youngest of 8 children. She had five brothers and two sisters ranging fourteen years apart. After her mother died in childbirth in 1937, Millie (age 6) went to live with relatives in the southwestern part of Ohio, as did all of her siblings.

At age 15, she was happy to be reunited with her older sisters in Dayton, where she met her soon to be husband, Jim, the following year. Jim and Mibs fell in love and were married in June of 1950. They were married nearly 58 years until she lost Jim to leukemia in 2008.

Millie and Jim raised two kids and were very active in their children's lives and the community. She was a member of Far Hills Baptist Church and more recently a member of First Baptist Church of Kettering.

Millie was a room-mother at Patterson Elementary and worked at Rike's downtown in the personalized Christmas cards for 18 years. She stayed active into her last days, mowing her own lawn until age 89, driving to the grocery and cooking for family. Her specialty was lasagna, with soup beans in a close second. Millie loved her tomatoes, cantaloupes and watermelon, and she'd never turn down a bowl of ice cream.

Millie was a kind soul who would help everyone in any way that she could. She cared for family, friends and community, and was blessed with a tight-knit group of eight siblings, now all reunited in heaven.

At Millie's request, we recognize Jim Reynolds for all of his years of support and friendship. She always said "he is my dearest friend." Jim and Millie lost their spouses around the same time, and she took great comfort from his companionship and his sense of humor. She also wanted to recognize her dear friend, Haley Sauder, who came to her aid multiple times over the past years. The family would like to thank all the friends and family who brought joy to Millie's life.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at Newcomer Kettering, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Jim Gifford to officiate. Burial to follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens.
