Mildred Arlene (Gabbard) Murphy, 88 of Beavercreek, departed this life and went to her heavenly home on November 3, 2022.
Mildred was born, just north of McKee, KY on November 19, 1933, to the late Ernest B. (Frosty) Gabbard and Sallie Jo (Johnson) Gabbard and was the eldest of seven children. She moved to Dayton, Ohio to pursue a working career and better future for herself, where she then met her future husband. She worked at Gallaghers and Sunshine Biscuit, and as a candy packer for Esther Price Candies for 36 years. Mildred loved to cook and prepare delicious meals for her family and friends to enjoy and had a green thumb with all types of beautiful flowers. She was an avid fan of Big Time Wrestling and was of the Pentecostal Faith. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Vickie Johnson of Beavercreek, Ohio; grandson, Jason Johnson of Beavercreek, Ohio; step-granddaughters, Amber (Dylan) Dorsey of Columbus, Ohio, Tiffany (Jimmy) Wendling of Swansboro, NC; great grandsons, Ryan Johnson and Jack Johnson of Beavercreek, Ohio; step-great grandson, Dalton Wendling of Germantown, Ohio; sister, Marlyn (Donnie) Colvin of Mount Vernon, KY; brothers, Norman (Jean) Gabbard of Eaton, Ohio, Barnell Gabbard and Jewel Gabbard of McKee, KY; nine nieces and five nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David K. Murphy and her former husband, Robert (Bob) L. Murphy; step-son, Daniel L. Murphy; brothers, Cecil Gabbard and Ronnie Gabbard; sisters-in-law, Jo Ann Gabbard and Nancy Gabbard; step-great grandson, Adam L. Murphy and son-in-law, Frankie Johnson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday November 10, 2022 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm with a funeral service at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio). Rev. Brian Gabbard will officiate, with interment to follow at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery, 27 S. Fairfield Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45440.
