Mildred R. Jay, age 91 of West Milton, passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law on Saturday April 2, 2011. Born in Nicholas Co., KY on October 16, 1919, she was the eldest child of James and Anna Brayfield. She was married to Virgil Jay on November 26, 1942, and had two children, Wanda and Douglas. Preceding Mildred in death were her parents; two brothers, Paul and Dale Brayfield; two sister-in-laws, Ruth and Jean Brayfield; brother-in-law, LeRoy Beam; and niece, Sharon First.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Wanda (Terry) Long of West Milton; son, Charles (Helen) of Bonney Lake, WA; 4 grandchildren, Christopher (Andrea) Anderson, Benjamin Anderson, Cameron (Siara) Jay and Carlene (Bill) McGuire; 7 great grandchildren, Kristen Maloney, Shelby Anderson, Brittany Anderson, Heather Anderson, Colin Smith, Lucas McGuire and Cameron Jay (Due May 30, 2011); great-great granddaughter, Peyton Maloney; two brothers, John (Betty) Brayfield of Tavares, FL and Eugene Brayfield of Greenville; two sisters, Gladys Beam of Huber Heights and Maxine (Joseph) Merz of Tipp City.
Mildred loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and hiking. She and her husband traveled most of the United States and had a great love of nature. Everybody loved "Gram" and Gram loved the Lord.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 6, 2011 at 10:30 am at Huber Heights Church of God, Brandt Pike, with Pastors Howard Briggs and David Hall officiating. Burial to follow at Bethel Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday April 5, 2011 at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Rd, from 5:oo pm – 8:00 pm.
