Banks, Mildred Ann "Sissy" age 73, of Xenia, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. She was born in Dayton, Ohio on November 27, 1947 to the late Leroy and Thelma Phoenix (nee Booker).
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Charles Banks; daughter, DeAnne Banks; brother, Robert "Bobby Lee" Phoenix; and in-laws, Irvin and Alice Shepard.
Sissy is survived by her daughters, Dannette Michele (Brent White) Banks and Yvette (Bilal Jabbar) Anderson, grandchildren, DeAunte' "Bubbas" White, Tame'rah "Moo" Jabbar, Tamiyah "Mi" Jabbar; great-grandson, Zafir Streaty; siblings, Kenneth "Hubba" Phoenix, William "Brue" (Saundra) Phoenix, Coltres "Maggie" (Rodney) Richberg; sister-In-Law, Laura Shepard; special friends, Sheila Brown, Jennifer Lane, and Velesta Wakefield; and a host of other family members and friends.
Sissy retired from Central State University in 2010 and was a member of Zion Baptist Church. Her hobbies were bowling and Bingo. Sissy loved her grandchildren and spoiled them even though the parents said no. Sissy enjoyed cooking when her kids were younger but now enjoyed eating without the hassle of cleaning the dishes. She supported her New England Patriots loud and proud. Last but not least, she was very out spoken and didn't believe in holding back on what needed to be said.
Sissy was the back bone and glue of the family. She will truly be missed.
Services will be held privately with the family.
The State of Ohio is under a mandatory mask order and has required that face mask will be worn in all public places.
