Mike J. Gilmore Sr., age 74, of Dayton, passed away on May 13, 2024. He was born in Dayton on May 9, 1950 to the late John & Nellie Gilmore.
He worked at Price Brother's and General Electric as a Millwright and Welder. He was also a Mason, and a member of Lodge #716. Mike was very involved in his community and frequently met with City Council over issues and ideas. He enjoyed watching movies and was an avid Sci-Fi fan. He loved everything from Star Wars to the Sci-Fi Channel. His was a beloved papaw and loved his movie weekends with Joe's Pizza and his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his siblings: Ralph, Travis, Jean and Betty; and his faithful companion, Paco.
He is survived by his children: Mike (Angela) Gilmore Jr., Timothy Gilmore, and Jeanetta (Barry) Rich; grandchildren: Jessica Gilmore, Destiny Gilmore, Keely (Joshua) Newman, Barry Gene Rich, and Chasity (Cody) Hooker; great-grandchildren: Phoenix, Cora, Isabella, Cody Jr., Savannah and Brody; his sister, Patty Wakefield; his good friends, Carol & Manuel Spicer, and his neighbors, Rick Braden and Mike Braden; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A visitation will be held from 12:30pm to 1:30pm on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, in Dayton, with the service beginning at 1:30pm. Following the service, Mike Sr. will be laid to rest at Willow View Cemetery.
