Michael Thomas Walsh

Michael Thomas Walsh, age 78 of Centerville, passed away on February 25, 2025. He was born on July 18, 1946 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Thomas and Violet Walsh. Michael leaves behind a legacy of service and dedication that profoundly touched the lives of many.

Michael’s commitment to his community was evident throughout his distinguished 20-year career as a police officer with the Dayton Police Department. Following his dedicated service in law enforcement, he transitioned to a fulfilling role as a contractor at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where he worked for an additional 17 years.

A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, Michael served honorably during the Vietnam War, embodying the values of courage and sacrifice. His military service remained a point of pride in his life, reflecting a deep commitment to his country and a passion for protecting those in need.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Michael was an avid fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes, passionately supporting his team throughout the seasons. Michael had a passion for golfing and fishing that he pursued throughout his life. Michael was always quick to show you a new golf swing or talk about the latest with the buckeyes. 

Michael is survived by his wife, Vickie Walsh; children, Tracie (Bill) Carmoega, Christina (Jason) Peterson, and Brian (Amanda) Walsh; grandchildren, Mateo Carmoega, Vaughn Walsh, and Gabriel Walsh.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters, Barbara and Mary.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to very dear friends, Ryan Scholtz, Mike Yeager, Tony Lugo, and David Snell, as well as the angels at Wood Glen Alzheimer's Community.

Michael's legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 11 am to 1 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, OH 45459). Funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens in Xenia, OH.
