Michael S. Laake, 60, of Dayton, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in his home. He was born on January 8, 1954, in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Alvin and Virginia (Holly) Laake.
Mike retired from the Air Force as a decorated Captain after serving 24 years. He was an active member of AMVETS Post #464 and past Commander of both Local and District. Mike served his fellow fallen soldiers on the AMVETS State Honor Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his oldest sister, Nancy Laake Gibbons and nephew, Michael Hobbs.
Mike is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gwendolyn Marlene (McGee) Laake; children, Robin Elisabeth Laake, Patrick Michael Laake; 5 grandchildren, Alexis, Skylar, Jilliana, Summer Rain and Troy; brother, Bob (Donna) Laake; sisters, Sandy (Bob) Wimmers, Chris (Donnie) Jones; numerous nieces, nephews, In-laws, and many good friends.
Visitation will be from 1-3 PM, on Veteran's Day, Tuesday, November 11, at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory (4104 Needmore Road, Dayton), where his Funeral Ceremony will immediately follow at 3 PM. Burial will take place at the Dayton National Cemetery at a later date.
