Michael Joseph Ramby, age 85, passed away on April 25, 2024. He was born on August 26, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Georgina and John Ramby.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Jack Ramby, Carol Pollard, Lois Montgomery, Jim Ramby and Judi Schorr.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Ramby; his daughters, Denise (Steve) Rakich and Michelle (ex-husband, Scott) Dillon; his grandchildren, Jessica Rakich, Michael (girlfriend, Fifine) Dillon, Parker Dillon, Morgan Dillon and Jaclyn Rakich; his great-granddaughter, Ellie Dillon; his cats, Buddy and Missy; and his special friends, Charlie Walters and Bubba Walters. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Mike graduated from Northridge High School in 1956. He started his career in the US Army and was stationed in France for part of his service. He was honorably discharged in 1967. He then became a plumber working for Honeywell and ultimately retired as such from General Motors, retiring early due to health reasons.
Mike would put others' needs first. He was the guy who would give you the shirt off his back. He always made sure you had what you needed, and if he didn't have it, he would go find it for you. He could also fix just about anything. He loved to fish, go to garage sales and spent many weekends at the flea markets where he made a lot of friends. He was referred to as Dr. Doolittle by his family because of his enormous love of animals, including the neighborhood squirrels, birds and stray cats, not to mention his own family pets. Most of all, though, he will be remembered by the love he gave his family, and his grandchildren meant the world to him.
Visitation will be held, May 9, 2024 from 12:00pm to 1:00pm with services to follow at Newcomer Funeral Home - North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, OH 45424.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Montgomery County Animal Resource Center - Caring Heart Fund.
Michael will be laid to rest at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Tipp City.
