Michael N. Barker

Michael Barker, age 64, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at the Soin Medical Center.
He was a long time resident of Hamilton, OH before moving to the Dayton area in 1989. He was born in Middletown, OH on March 13, 1949.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Beulah (Barnes) Barker and his sister, Carol Gillespie. Mike is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Judith (Hurst) Barker; 3 daughters: Julie Barker, of Beavercreek, OH; Becky (& husband Russ) Hawkes, of Dayton, OH; and Beth (& husband Glen) Horton, of Cincinnati, OH; and grandchildren: Macy, Max and Logan.
Mike was a graduate of Hamilton Taft High School and Xavier University. He worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base as a contract negotiator and especially loved working on his "Special Program Contracts". He retired in 2006. He was a member of Greene County Fish and Game and also an ardent fan of the Michigan Wolverines and the Xavier Musketeers. Mike was an avid reader and loved anything written by or about Ernest Hemingway. It was because of his love for all things Hemingway that he spent so many memorable vacations in Key West. Mike loved visiting the one-time adopted home of this author and simply wandering around the tiny island.
A gathering of friends will be held 1-3:00 PM, Friday, December 6, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, OH 45432.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3 PM also at the Funeral Home.
Philip Fershee will be officiating.
