Lt Col. Michael Patrick Gibney, 71, of Centerville, Ohio, passed away Friday, May 24, 2024, after a long battle with Parkinson’s. He was born September 27, 1952, in Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, the son of Andreanna and the late Francis Gibney. He graduated from Andress High School and earned his master’s degree from Abilene Christian University. Michael married his loving wife in 1979, sharing 45 years of marriage together. Michael was a pilot in the United States Air Force, retiring after 26 years of dedicated service to his country. He loved flying, and following retirement he dedicated time training the next generation of pilots as an instructor pilot. Michael was a member of the Single Action Shooters Society, Quiet Bird, Daedalians, and the Greene County Aero Club. In his free time he enjoyed cycling, renovating his home, and playing with his beagles. Michael was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and will be missed by all who knew him.
Michael is survived by his wife Linda Gibney; sons Barry Gibney, David (Katherine) Gibney, and Stephen (Jennifer) Gibney; mother Andreanna Baker; grandchildren Olivia, Miles, Karlee, and Karson; brother Andrew Gibney; sister Cathy Gibney; three nephews; and numerous friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Francis Gibney, and brother, Stephen Gibney.
