Michael E. "Mike" Gearhart, age 68 of Riverside, OH passed away peacefully Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Kettering Medical Center. He was born March 14, 1950 in Dayton, Ohio to Floyd and Berniece (Angel) Gearhart. Mike married Marsha Hummel on May 23, 1970 in Dayton, OH.
Mike retired from Ohio Bell /Ameritech in 2002 after 31 years where he worked in Special Services. He enjoyed fishing, model trains, was a member of the Dayton Amateur Radio Association (DARA) and had a love for Jazz and the Blues. Mike loved to cook and grill for the family over the years, and was always trying new rubs and smoking with different types of wood and charcoal. He also enjoyed gardening with his family. Mike loved his family dearly, his fishing dates with his grandson Zachary, and will be greatly missed by all.
Mike is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marsha; a daughter, Joni (Patrick) Altman; a grandson, Zachary Altman; an aunt, Carolyn (Lester) Wright; his mother in law, Laura Rowe; and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Timothy Gearhart; and a sister in law, Patricia Ludwig.
A visitation will be held on Monday, February 18, 2019 from 12:30 to 2:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Funeral Services will be follow the visitation at 2:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial to follow the services at Valley View Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mike's memory to SICSA, 2600 Wilmington Pike, Dayton, OH 45419.
