Macchia, Michael Anthony, age 73, of Kettering, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2012.
Michael was a graduate of Long Island University and a 30 year member of St. Charles Borromeo Church in Kettering. He retired from DESC where he was their "Man of the Year" several times, a member of DESC 25 year/retirement club, and a member of NARFE. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and he was very active in the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years: Doris Macchia; son and daughter-in-law: Robert M. (Samantha) Macchia; daughters and sons-in-law: Annette M. (Dan) Armstrong, Susan C. Macchia; Carolyn M. (Daniel) Eisenhart; grandchildren: Michael, Alec, Aidan, Mary, John & Charles; aunt: Gilda Mannino; and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Anthony F. & Mary (Biancheri) Macchia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd., Kettering. Interment will follow Mass at Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Centerville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11:30 – 12:30 P.M. at Newcomer Funeral Home (South Chapel) 3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton in memory of Michael.
