FREER, Merlyn Eugene age 88 passed away March 7, 2012.
Born in Isle, MN., Merlyn was a veteran of WWII. He retired from the USAF after 26 years of service. Merlyn and his wife, Lucille sold real estate for ten years before final retirement. They did quite a bit of world travel, always returning home to Huber Heights.
Merlyn and Lucille have been married for 64 years. Merlyn "Jack" had a lifelong interest in sports and staying healthy. He was a Huber Heights Little League coach for years. He enjoyed playing and watching golf, tennis, baseball, and bridge. In his retirement years, He won many medals playing table tennis in the Senior Olympics. He was a fierce competitor!
Merlyn came from a large family. Proceeded in death by his parents, Edward Eugene and Inez (Windsor) Freer; brothers, Darrell (Mary Jo), Duane (Marge), and Lyle (Marlyn) Freer.
His surviving siblings are, Eunice Bue, Carol (Paul) Baily, Deanna Peterson, and Dean Freer; and sisters-in-law, Mary Jo, Marge, and Marlyn Freer. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Freer; sons, John (Cheryl) Freer and Dennis (Anne) Freer, daughters, Judy (John) Lavigne and Marilyn (Gary) Heet. There are 8 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
