Merlin G. Grothouse
Age 70, of Huber Heights, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2007, at his home.
Merlin was preceded in death by his father, Leo B. Grothouse and by one sister-in-law, Theresa Grothouse.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela S. (Cook) Grothouse; his mother, Eleanora Grothouse of Delphos, Ohio; two sons, Mark (Tonja) Grothouse and Michael (Jeana) Grothouse, all of Dayton, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Brendan, Madison, Bryan, Heather, Sydney, Nevahn, Logan and Justinn; two sisters, Ethel (Dick) Crede of Clearwater, Florida and Lois Miller of Elida, Ohio; and by three brothers, Paul (Carol) Grothouse of Lima, Ohio, Dave (Carol) Grothouse of Waterville, Ohio and Denny Grothouse of Delphos, Ohio.
Merlin graduated from Delphos – St. Johns High School in Delphos, Ohio. He served in the U. S. Army from 1956 to 1958. From 1966 – 1975 he worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. From 1975 – 1982 he worked at Lima Memorial Hospital and from 1982 – 1993 he worked at the Indianapolis Community Hospital – East.
The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday at Newcomer Funeral Home & Crematory, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, Ohio (Phone: 937-235-1000).
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at St. Peter Catholic Church, 6161 Chambersburg Road, Huber Heights, Ohio. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends will gather for prayers at the funeral home Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. and then process to the church.
