Merle Ferrell

FERRELL, Merle, 87, of Beavercreek, OH died December 19, 2014 in his home surrounded by loving family.

Mr. Ferrell was born July 16, 1927 to the late Alan and Alta (Spencer) Ferrell. He was a member of the Carter City Church of Christ in Carter City, KY where he served as a minister spreading God's word. Merle was a member of local 696 UAW and served as a union steward for many years before retiring.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Velma (Pendleton) Ferrell of Beavercreek, OH; 3 sons, Kenny Ferrell of FL, Mike Ferrell of Beavercreek, OH and Lynn (Vicki) Neely of Richmond, VA; 3 daughters, Cathy Ferrell of Beavercreek, OH, Belinda (Doug) Keeton of West Liberty, KY, and Susan (David) Constable of Dayton, OH; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; brothers, Richard (Cherri) Ferrell of Frenchburg, KY and Buddy (Kathy) Ferrell of Paintsville, KY; sisters, Geraldine Jones of Salt Lick, KY, Shirley (Bobby) Arnold of Shepherdsville, KY, Linda (Robert) Combs of Atlanta, GA, and Kitty Sue Thomas of Lexington, KY; sister-in-law, Arvena Ferrell of Frenchburg, KY; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Ferrell of Xenia, OH, many brothers and sisters in Christ, and family and friends.

He is preceded in death by 2 sisters, Garnetta Moore and Betty Highly of Mt. Sterling, KY; brother, Hershel Ferrell of Frenchburg, KY, and daughter, Glenda Loughman of Beavercreek, OH.

Visitation will be December 23, 2014 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, OH. Funeral services will be December 24, 2014 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Dayton.
