SMITH, Melvinia Rose (Newman), 86, of Dayton, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 5, 2008. Born July 20, 1921 to the late Hendrix and Sara Newman of Estill Co, KY in addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her son Lorhis Lewis, grandson James K. Newman, brothers Archie Chaney, Hiram Newman and John Newman, sister Velva Hardy and daughter-in-law Marjorie Newman. Melvinia is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert Austin Smith, married March 23, 1954; sons James B. (Nelda) Newman, of Griffin, GA and Edward E. (Sandra) Donnelly, of Dayton OH; daughter Glen Rosalee (Timothy) Lake, of Hillsboro, OH; daughter-in-law Patricia A. Lewis, of Irvine, KY; grandchildren: Donald Lewis, Timothy Lewis, Ricky Lewis, of Irvine, KY, Tricia Donnelly, of Dayton, OH, Tammy Lake-Parrish, of Fairborn, OH, Shelley Lake, of Elizabethtown, KY; a special grandson-in-law Terry Parrish; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends. A celebration of Melvinia's life will be held 7:00PM Saturday February 9, 2008 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4104 Needmore Rd. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00PM prior to services at the funeral home. Additional funeral services will be held 2:00PM Monday, February 11, 2008 at Lewis Funeral Home, Irvine, KY. Family will receive friends two hours prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Cane Springs Cemetery.In recognition to her life long love and devotion for animals (especially dogs) the family requests contributions be made in her honor to an animal shelter or animal rescue of your choice.
